* WATER: cubic meter of = 1000Kg = 1 Tonne

PRICE of manufacture of carbon fiber = $10 to $20 per pound = $22.046 to $44.092 per Kilogram.

Therefore it costs between $7 & $15 to manufacture 1 CUBIC METER of carbon fiber, as mentioned, it costs about $7 to $15 to make a cubic meter (0.390798 Kilograms) of carbon fiber, it costs about US $240-280 (4.506 TONNES) per cubic meter of Titanium (Cost, pure: $6.1aus per 100g)

Carbon fiber is STRONGER than titanium steel, but weighs a mere 2 THOUSANDTH to an 4 THOUSANDTH of the equivalent volume of titanium steel alloy, how then, can “authorities” get away with claiming that “carbon fiber is prohibitively expensive to produce, at $10 per pound. [See all relevant and related links at the end of this article]

(here we can begin to realize why govt & vested interests are deliberately stifling the immediate instigation of carbon fiber as the MAIN construction material, eg, the csiro has “put all its eggs in one basket” so to speak in it’s quest to further loot Australian resources via the mining industry, ie, it’s just spent a decade focusing on how to make $$$$$ from titanium/titanium powder etc, & so carbon fiber, being cheaper in real terms, MUCH lighter & MUCH stronger, is therefor quite the concern to them, in much the same way as diesel was a threat to the oil companies of the time. ps, all is not lost though oh csiro monkeys, your electron beam/titanium powder combo sounds like a GREAT way to 3D print machine/weapon components to me).

ps, what the main write above means in real terms, is that whilst govt & mining corgis etc. tell you that carbon fiber at $10 per pound is “prohibitively expensive”, “per pound/kilogram” is NOT the valid way to compare the materials, ie, they must be compared on (obviously) what can be MADE from the equivalent amount of each, in actual fact, with carbon fiber being about 10x stronger than titanium steel (& the more expensive, though already used even in golf fkn clubs etc carbon fiber nano-tubes 10-100x stronger than titanium steel & even lighter than carbon fiber itself) & titanium steel weighing so much more than carbon fiber, this means that 1 cubic meter of titanium steel weighs about 5 times as much as your car, whereas 1 cubic meter of the much stronger carbon fiber weighs about as much as a small can of soft drink. ie, you can build a (termite-proof) house out of 1 Kg of carbon fiber, wheras 1 Kg of titanium steel will make a fkn good doorstop or a paper-weight…
